Do I need a circle cutter to cut paper inlays in any case?

No. As an alternative or in addition to a circle cutter we offer special button paper making any cutting needless.

Can I also cut my paper inlays with common scissors?

This is not recommended. The diameter of the paper inlay has to be exactly the same as the foil`s diameter or rather the cutting size. When you produce a button the paper inlay will be put around the button together with the foil. If the paper does not fit exactly problems might appear and the button might not be closed correctly.

That`s why you should use a circle cutter or even easier our special button paper.

Which paper weight should I use?

You should use normal, common paper (e.g. copying paper). When you produce a button the paper will be put around the button together with the foil. So it should not be too thick, to come off best between 80 and 90 g/qm.

Can I also use fabric instead of paper inlays?

In general our badge making machines are constructed for the usage of paper inlays (about 80-90g) and not for the usage of fabric. Therefor we can not guarantee 100% perfect buttons if you use fabric. But many customers tell us that the usage of fabric is possible without problems. Of course this is depending on the constitution of the fabric. Thin and flexible fabric will surely be more suited than thick and unflexible fabric.

The exchangeable, transparent template of acrylic glass is fixed at the foot of the circle cutter. With its help the desired design on printed paper can easily be centered. The paper inlay can be cut correctly to a millimetre, the paper will not slip. Through the template you can see in advance how much of the design will be visible later, on the ready button.
